Spotlight: Surfrider Maui

Thursday, May 27th, 2010

Surfrider Foundation is a national coastal environmental organization with chapters throughout Hawaii and the mainland.  There is actually a pretty big network of Surfrider happening in the islands – there must be a chapter on almost all of the larger islands now.  Surfrider Hawaii fans,  now there is no excuse not to participate – Surfrider is great because they make it so easy for the average person to just get involved and make a difference.  Click here for links to their chapters on all main Hawaiian Islands.

Maui Surfrider Foundation works hard to bring its mission to life—preserving beach access, preserving near-shore water quality, and protecting recreational and cultural sites through CARE: Conservation, Activism, Research, and Education. In April, you’ll find them doing this through a number of events, including More Fish in the Sea (4/3), Blue ?Aina Beach-Reef Cleanup (4/11), and Malama the Surf, a benefit at Flatbread Pizza (4/20)…this is a little dated, but check back soon and we should be all caught up with events etc.
