Welcome to this blog, South Kona Youth represent.  The intentions for this web site are to:

• Be a useful tool for readers to take appropriate action for social and environmental justice
• Provide relevant, quality news and information that serves SKY’s mission
• Educate and Inspire people who love Hawaii about the issues facing the Hawaiian islands today & ideas for how individuals and groups can help
• Be a part of the solution – Change for the Better in the Islands Now

The issues that are discussed on this blog are intertwined and part of a greater whole, a bigger picture relating to the Destiny of this Earth.

My passion for this cause began when I fell in love with the Big Island of Hawaii.  Living there for two years was one of the happiest experiences of my life, my heart was healed and somewhere between the sunsets, dolphins, ocean, surfing, dancing and partying, laughing, adventuring and eating the abundant guava fruit growing wild on trees, I fell in love with life and living again.

However, the precarious precipice between charming old world ways and the resulting lackadaisical lifestyle of the youth in this area are to be recognized as an opportunity to “get the act together).  While we were out “cruising”, bigger dollars and special interests (with-not-so-pure motives) have slyly moved in and made some alarming advances in terms of monopolizing the islands resources and threatening the health of the islands and her people.

There are enough bright, powerful, talented, caring young people that I know can create this change.  This blog is for you: a web space that facilitates our coming together and building our dreams.

Mission/ Intentions

We intend, as the South Kona Big Island Youth to:

• Restore the balance of the “Aloha” lifestyle – peace, prosperity, harmony & a clean environment for all
• Take action to protect our Island Home and Planet Home in a loving, conscious way
• Strive to look at the reflections we create in our outer world, and to harmonize our inner worlds
• Know that abundance and prosperity are reality
• Help others reconnect with the sacred spirit of the land and ocean
• Share abundance with the keiki by treating them right, showing them the way
